The Medical Assistant project places you in a local clinic where you will shadow doctors and nurses, observe daily routines, and gain insight into Peru’s healthcare system. You may rotate through departments like maternity, dentistry, psychology, and obstetrics, and assist with community health campaigns. Your level of involvement depends on your Spanish proficiency and proactivity, with strong communication skills helping you contribute effectively.

The project offers a volunteer experience with a minimum stay of four weeks, working Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 1/2 PM. An intermediate level of Spanish is required, and volunteers contribute a weekly donation of $15 + Internationally and Nationally Valid Certification
Tasks include observing the clinic, its activities, and working methods, shadowing doctors and nurses, supporting administrative work, assisting medical staff, making recommendations regarding patients, and participating in health campaigns, such as visiting camps and providing vaccinations (optional).
Volunteers and interns with a higher level of Spanish are usually given more opportunities to rotate across different areas within the clinic. It is recommended to bring scrubs as part of the work gear.
